When ordering, please choose your desired shaft adapter:
*5/16-inch bore for use on 5/16-inch keyed or drive pin shafts (default)
*1/2-inch bore for use with 1/2-inch drive pin shafts (option)
When ordering, please choose your desired core/hub size:
*8-inch diameter core (default)
*5-inch diameter core (option)
Important note regarding film running time capacity between different core/hub sizes:
*Upgrading from a 3-inch to 4-inch core only decreases the total capacity of the reel by about 70 feet (less than a minute)
*Upgrading from a 4-inch to 5-inch core only decreases the total capacity of the reel by about 100 feet (roughly one minute)
*Upgrading from a 5-inch to 8-inch core only decreases the total capacity of the reel by about 410 feet (roughly 4.5 minutes)
As a rule, always use the largest size core possible, as this puts the least amount of stress on the film and decreases physical deformation of the film over time.
Film-Tech’s multi-format motion picture film reels are the perfect choice for both projection as well as archival storage of motion picture film. (The reel is also available in 24-inch diameter which holds 6000 feet of film.) The reels are made from ARCHIVAL GRADE (chemically-insert) plastic and assembles with a single #2 Phillips screwdriver. All necessary hardware for assembly is included. Depending on the model ordered will depend if it comes with a 5-inch core or an 8-inch core. The reels are produced in black.
